Chapter Five
“What else do I need to know?” I grumble grinding my teeth. “You need to know that I am never wrong.” He proclaims, “You will think you can outsmart me, that is one of the reasons I chose you. You are intelligent which will lead you to plot and plan, and I encourage it!” He spreads his arms out like I would to run for a hearty embrace, “I absolutely love it when my companions try to challenge me, it’s thrilling.” That smug grin he gives when he glorifies himself is an image I can never erase from my mind. Ugh, that confident, cocky love-myself grin that just makes a person want to smack his cosmetically perfected face. “But I need you to know, none of your efforts will prevail. I will always win. You also must know that you are far from your previous home, in a place that requires all modes of transport to leave.” He cocks his eyebrow at me like he already won. Honestly, I’m in shackles, he wins everything. “So, even if you manage to leave for a brief period of time, you won’t get far. Everyone here, in this village, they have sworn allegiance to me and I have earned it in more than one way. No one will show you mercy.” He clears his throat before proceeding, “You will be able to enjoy more privileges, like taking a bath alone, when you earn it, of course. You will work to earn anything.” “Why do you need companions?” “Because I grew tired of, eh, everyone and everything.” He scoffs, waving his hand in the air, “You’ll come to find that I do not accept the word no for an answer. You will do what I want, when I want, how I want, or you will be reminded of what happens when you displease me, then,” He snickers with a half-smile creeping on his face, “Then, you’ll do it anyway.” “And what happens when I displease you?” “I believe you have met the remote?” The red button demon makes an appearance. “I understand.” I say never wanting to feel that pain again. “Good.” He chuckles as he finally stands from the chair he used as a throne, “Your attempt to avoid the remote won’t always work but I shall reward your initiative this time.” “Reward?” “Yes,” He stares all over me with his tongue sticking out from the side of his mouth, “Now, you must get cleaned up before I greet you.”
